As part of our effort to establish our name and promote affordable professional qualification to local community, Sinar College ventured to Segamat. We visited the school that is located at the heart of Segamat town, Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Seg Hwa. Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Seg Hwa was established in 1918 by Chinese merchants and was formerly known as Chong Cheng Primary School. After world war 2, secondary school section was added and then, was named as Hwa Chiao Primary and Secondary School. From first establishment until 1957, it had been running with just donation and private funding, but after independence, it received the funding from government and was renamed as Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Hwa Ciao. Hwa Ciao means Chinese abroad and this was irrelevant as by 1963, most Chinese in Malaysia was already granted citizenship. The name was deemed inappropriate and the school was renamed to Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Seg Hwa. Seg Hwa means Chinese of Segamat.
After negotiation with the school, Sinar College had agreed to donate to the school and then installed a SPM / PMR Countdown Board for school usage.
