For Malaysians, for employment purposes, it is usually not adequate for having academic qualification in accounting profession. Accounting graduates and employees wannabees usually pursue professional qualification like CAT, ACCA, Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM), and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). These qualification are offered by reputable professional bodies which require the applicants to pass certain difficult examinations.

Unlike academic degree and diploma courses, professional bodies do not require students to attend classes for credit hours. Students only need to take and pass the examinations. Like other reputable professional qualifications, same rules apply to ACCA and FIA (formerly known as CAT).

Students are actually free to opt to self-study and only come to Sinar College for attending examinations which are held twice annually. Nevertheless, because of the difficulty, students usually need assistance from classes and lecturers. That’s why there are many tuition centers for ACCA and FIA across the nation although only handful premises are accredited as top teaching centers by ACCA. Sinar College obtain its Gold status as teaching centers from ACCA which is very rare in Malaysia and the only one in the state of Melaka. In Malaysia, usually tuition centers for ACCA, LCCI, and CAT are only limited to providing premises for night and weekend classes to part time students. Sinar College, however, upgraded its status from mere tuition centers to higher education institution, accredited by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and approved by Ministry of Education. It becomes local branch offering courses from Ministry of Tourism as Institut Latihan Pelancongan (Tourism Training Center) and Universiti Malaya via its Universiti Malaya’s Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCed). Therefore, besides obtaining well-sought professional qualification, students can actually obtain accredited diploma and degree at the same time.
